I grew up in a rural part of Indiana surrounded by goldenrods, thistles, and chicory.  There was a maple tree that I would climb and sit in for hours, knitting, thinking, and daydreaming.  My design inspiration started there in that tree – a place where time was slow, and wind was soft.

 

My joy for bridal started shortly after the love of my life proposed to me – I spent 9 months hand-knitting my own wedding dress on the NYC Subway during my hour-long commute to midtown while working as a fashion designer.  It was the hours of knitting on that N train that I started dreaming up my own line of bespoke bridal accessories. 

Knitting is a time capsule to a distant world, where for hundreds of years mothers and daughters have passed down a piece of themselves. That heritage of love and care is hand stitched thousands of times into each one of our accessories.

 

Esther Andrews was founded in the spring of 2020 with the intention of offering beautiful styling option for brides in need of a little warmth – whether that’s a custom crochet floral pullover, or a last minute cashmere shawl.  Our knitwear is designed to be a timeless styling piece that can be paired with any dress.

We use only the highest-quality yarns that are all Sustainable Certified. Our garments are made in the United States, between a small manufacturer in Queens, New York and our rural studio in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Our Studio

Our bridal studio is located inside a little blue room in Indiana. It’s where we design, and hand make our knitwear with the help of hundreds of floating butterflies whispering tiny fluttering spells.
